- Danish cartographer Rene Larson claims that a medieval map showing America just might be real. The map, which was discovered in the 1950s and is titled “Vinland Island,” appears to date from 1440, which predates Columbus. “All the tests that we have done
over the past five years — on the materials and other aspects — do not
show any signs of forgery,” Larsen told Reuters.
