Day 01: Hanoi Arrival (Meals: D – Welcome dinner).
You are welcomed by ACT’s guide at Noi Bai international airport and transferred to your hotel for check in, free time at leisure to relax after your journey.
Ha Noi, Vietnam’s capital, originally named Thang Long or “City of the Ascending Dragon,” the city was first the capital of Vietnam in A.D. 1010. The city’s quiet air gives it a gracious, almost regal flavor. Hanoi is dotted with dozens of lakes around which you can usually find a cafe, a pagoda or two, shaded boulevards and attractive French style buildings.
Have welcome dinner at Indochine restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 02: Hanoi city (Meals: B,L).
Breakfast at hotel before enjoying a full day city tour starting with the Ho Chi Minh complex (Closed on Mondays and Fridays mornings and whole September and October for annual repairs). Visit One Pillar Pagoda, founded by King Ly Thai To in 1049. This structure has become an important symbol for the people of Hanoi. We continue to the National Fine Arts Museum, located in colonial France’s former Ministry of Information, which has an eclectic mix of contemporary Vietnamese art, religious pieces, lacquerware and sculptures. Our next stop will be the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. Constructed in 1070, the gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam’s past.
After lunch at Cha ca street with “Cha Ca La Vong”, a favourite dish of Hanoian – Listed in 1000 Places to visit before you die, we continue to Hoa Lo Prison (formerly known as the Hanoi Hilton during the American War). Our tour includes the Buddhist Tran Quoc Pagoda on West Lake and Quan Thanh Temple, dating from the Ly Dynasty.
We will enjoy a cyclo ride through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, also known as “36 streets.” This bustling area of narrow streets and alleys is home to thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. It is a great place to explore with plenty of photo opportunities all around you. This evening we enjoy the famous water puppet theatre (roi nuoc in Vietnamese). This is a fantastic art form originated in northern Vietnam. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 03: Hanoi – Ninh Binh “Halong bay on land”- Trang An Grottoes (Meals: B,L).
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Ninh Binh (95 km) called as “Halong Bay on land” – the same limestone rocks as in Halong Bay but seen from a winding stream through paddy fields instead of the sea.
We enjoy an excusion to visit Trang An – Located 4km Southwest of Hoa Lu ancient capital inside Trang An Eco tourism complex. The Trang An grottoes has an area of 1,500 hectares including: limestone ranges, valleys, caves and rivers. All these factors make a fanciful and romantic atmostphere. There is a system of unique grottoes like Ba Giot, Dia Linh, Toi (Dark Cave), Sang (Bright Cave), Ao Trai Cave and Seo Cave. There are many valleys like Tran Temple valley, May valley, Khong Valley, Nau Ruou Valley (Wine brewing valley).
After your lunch, we drive back to Ha Noi, on the way, if time permit we will visit Duong Lam ancient village – the homeland of Ngo Quyen & Phung Hung – 2 national heroes in Vietnamese history. Walking around the village, visit local farmer’s house, where you are hosted with green tea and introcduced how to make soya been souce. Arrivel Hanoi at late afternoon. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 04: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Overnight on Junk Cruise (Meals: B,L,D).
Breakfast at hotel. We depart for Ha Long, approximately three hours away. Halong bay – one of the world’s natural wonders and is the most beautiful tourist destination of Vietnam. Halong bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes with 1969 islets. Several of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves, other support floating villages of fishermen. You have chance of observing sinic country side of Vietnam dominated by enormous lush rice field.
Upon arrival in Halong. Check-in between 11:30 – 12:00 at the boat port. Enjoy a refreshing “Welcome Cocktail” upon check-in on the sun deck. Vietnamese seafood lunch served at the restaurant.
A fantastic cruise will take you to exotic islets with Dog island, Incense Urn island, Sail island, Fighting Cocks island, which are naturally formed by process of erosion between the sea water and limestone mountains. Visit by Tender to see the Sung Sot Caves (Cave of Surprises) if weather permitting. Then we visit an interesting fishing village with the opportunity to interact with fishermen who have been living in the bay for almost three generations. Later in the afternoon, go swimming on a quiet beach or sunbathing on the sundeck.
Vietnamese seafood dinner served at the restaurant. Evening movie show at the sun deck. Spending a night on cruise.
Day 05: Halong Bay – Hue (Meals: B,L).
Greet the day with a morning Tai Chi exercise with an opportunity to view the sunrise over the bay. Sitting on the upper desk we can enjoy the breath – taking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the crystal-clear water of the bay. We can hear the birds singing, cicadas chirping ashore and the gentle lapping of the waves against our boat, the perfect soundtrack to accompany the fresh air and gentle breeze.
International Brunch Buffet served in the restaurant. Check-out on board and disembarkation at boat port, Halong city.
Our tour guide and driver will pick you up and transfer to Noi Bai airport to take a short domestic flight to Hue. Upon arrival Hue, Transfer to the hotel for check in and overnight in Hue.
Day 06: Hue Imperial (Meals: B,D).
Breakfast at hotel. This morning we explore this former imperial capital. A boat trip along the romantic Perfume river carries us through a tranquil setting of gardens and lakes, where Hue’s best known religious sites are located: The Thien Mu pagoda and the mausoleum of former emperor Minh Mang. We continue to the Imperial Citadel, from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945.
After your lunch, we will have a short walking to visit Dong Ba market – fantastic to wander boulevards, verdant parks and ochre buildings that retain an old-world around. It sells all manner of items and is a lively place to spend a couple charm, Dong Ba is also famous for the best conical hats in Vietnam. The rest of afternoon is free to explore on your own.
Tonight you will have a chance to enjoy “Royal dinner“. Enjoy a delicious food while listening to melodious music and having a feeling of being the King and Queen. All wear traditional royal clothes. All the served food is royal including dishes reminding dragon, phoenix, or peacock…Overnight in Hue.
Day 07: Hue – Danang – Hoi An (Meals: B).
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to “The City of the Dead”- Around 20km from the popular beach Thuan An, you can find An Bang Cemetery that would amaze anyone visiting this region for the first time.
At An Bang cemetery thousands of incredible graves of innumerable designs cover an area over 10 hectares wide. It is a place that must be seen to be believed. Such the variety in styles no one can say what school of architecture these graves come from. One grave, for example, looks like a castle from Arabian Nights, while others would remind you of the royal tombs in Hue. Although each design seems unique there are certain patterns in the shape while motifs such as dragons, clouds or lions are common.
We continue our trip to Da Nang (110km). Upon arriving in Da Nang, you’ll have a brief look at the remarkable Hindu statuary in the Cham Museum. We have a stop over at Marble mountain before leaving for Hoian ancient town (35km) – an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Hoian has 1,068 ancients houses, 19 pagodas, 43 temples, 23 communal houses, 38 family temples, 5 assembly halls, 11 old wells, one bridge, 44 ancient tombs. In old quarter, there are more than 1000 relic sites. At leisure for the rest of day. Overnight in Hoian.
Day 08: Hoian ancient town (Meals: B).
Breakfast at hotel. Our morning walking tour of the ancient town centre takes us to the sites of former merchants’ homes, the 400-year old Japanese Covered bridge and a Chinese Communal Hall. The Japanese Covered bridge was the first bridge in Hoi An and was constructed in 1593. It was built by the Japanese community of Hoi An to link them with the Chinese quarters across the stream. The bridge was provided with a roof so it could be used as a shelter from rain and sun. Enjoy browsing and shopping in one of the most colourful local marketplaces in all of southeast Asia.
Free your time to relax or discover the hidden charm of Hoian town. Overnight in Hoian.
Day 09: Danang fly to Ho Chi Minh City (Meals: B).
Breakfast at hotel. A free morning in Hoian to discover the hidden charms then after lunch we will return to Danang for domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh city.
Ho Chi Minh City is the dynamic, bustling centre of Vietnam. Much of the city’s life takes place in the streets, which are a jumble of markets, shops, wheeled carts and vendors selling wares spread out on the sidewalks. Saigon was the former capital of South Vietnam and was renamed Ho Chi Minh City in 1975.
The afternoon is at leisure. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 10: Ho Chi Minh – Cu Chi Tunnels (Meals: B,D).
Breakfast at hotel. We drive to Cu Chi district, 50 km to the Northwest of Saigon city, The tunnels of Cu Chi are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country. The Cu Chi tunnels were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War, and were the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam’s base of operations for the Tet Offensive in 1968. Touring the areas and then you will be transferred back to Saigon.
After your lunch we will visit the War Remnants museum, which primarily contains exhibits relating to the American phase of the Vietnam war. Free time at leisure or shopping at Ben Thanh market.
Tonight we transfer to Binh Quoi Tourist village – 8km north of central city to enjoy a dinner with traditional music, Vietnamese traditional wedding show at the village. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 11: Ho Chi Minh – Mekong Delta – Can Tho (Meals: B,L).
Breakfast at hotel. We’ll take a scenic early morning drive to Vinh Long, stop for photos at Tan An town over the flat rice fields. On arriving in Cai Be, start the motorized boat ro visit the colourful Cai Be floating market. Experience how people exchanging goods, fruit and many other commodities on their vessels. Visitors then roam into the small villages to visit the orchard, fruit plantation… Keep cruising to Vinh Long through small canals to enjoy the charm of the Upper Mekong delta. Visit some hand – made family business products such as the coconut candy mill, the crispy rice popcorn. Arrive in Binh Hoa Phuoc village – the green pearl of Vinh Long town where you can indulge yourself into the nature.
Have lunch with fresh river food served in the heart of the garden. Enjoy the southern Vietnamese traditional folk music. Take a nice walk through the bonsai garden. Meet the driver in Vinh Long and transfer to Can Tho. Check into hotel on arrival in Can Tho. Free your time at leisure and overnight in Can Tho.
Day 12: Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh (Meals: B,L).
Breakfast at hotel. Early morning wake-up, walking to Ninh Kieu pier for sampan to Cai Rang floating market with stops at a Bun Tau noodle factory and a short trek before arriving at a rice-husking mill. You can even try passing one of the many fragile monkey bridges along the canals photo shot. At the floating markets, you will discover a typical way of displaying and advertising farm products of local people gathering on the Mekong river to trade their goods. Drive back to Saigon with a lunch stop at My Tho. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh city. Check in the hotel and overnight in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon).
Day 13: Ho Chi Minh Departure (Meals: B).
Breakfast at hotel. Free your time to discover Saigon streets or shopping at Ben Thanh market untill your are transferred to Tan Son Nhat airport for your departure flight. End of our services.
